[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Ki-dong] The Mokpo E-Land Senior Welfare Center, operated by the social welfare corporation E-Land Welfare Foundation (Chairman Park Seong-gyeong), held a reopening ceremony for the Hanttam Workshop on the 18th.

According to the E-Land Welfare Center on the 21st, the 'Hanttam Workshop,' which started in 2013, is a market-type project under the Senior Social Activity Support Project, where seniors aged 60 and above with professional sewing skills produce various clothing and fashion accessories.

On June 15, the Hanttam Workshop was finally selected in the '2020 Initial Investment and Rejump Support Project Contest' hosted by the Korea Senior Human Resources Development Institute under the Ministry of Health and Welfare, receiving 30 million won in support. Through this project, the workshop expanded and relocated from the 3rd-floor workspace to the 4th floor, and thoroughly created a safe workplace for participating seniors by remodeling the interior and replacing outdated equipment.

The opening ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including Kim Jong-sik, Mayor of Mokpo; Park Chang-su, Chairman of the Mokpo City Council; Jeon Gyeong-seon, Chair of the Jeollanam-do Council Operations Committee; Park Moon-ok, Chair of the Jeollanam-do Council Planning and Administration Committee; Choi Seon-guk, Member of the Jeollanam-do Council; Kim In, Head of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Headquarters of the Korea Senior Human Resources Development Institute; and Shim Jeong-young, Director of the E-Land Welfare Foundation, along with seniors participating in the project.

In his congratulatory speech, Mayor Kim Jong-sik said, “I am pleased that a safer and happier workplace has been created for seniors participating in the Senior Social Activity Support Project, and I will work harder to expand senior job opportunities in Mokpo City.”

Kang Ju-ho, Director of the Mokpo E-Land Senior Welfare Center, stated, “We are grateful to Mokpo City and the Korea Senior Human Resources Development Institute for their generous support for the project’s relaunch during difficult times, and we will continue to strive to support jobs led by seniors.”

The Hanttam Workshop plans to actively promote business expansion and diversification of sales channels not only through offline sales but also via the online Naver Smart Store, contributing to the local community through seniors’ broader social participation and income generation.
