Participation of 53 Overseas Clients and Procurement Vendors from 28 Countries
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] KOTRA will hold the '2020 Online Public Procurement Export Consultation' in a non-face-to-face format from the 23rd of this month to the 4th of next month, together with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Public Procurement Service, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Major overseas buyers and procurement vendors will meet and conduct consultations online with domestic companies.
This consultation, now in its third year, will be attended by 53 overseas buyers and procurement vendors from 28 countries and 219 domestic companies. KOTRA prepared by forming an 'Online Team Korea' due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Participants in the export consultation include international organizations such as the United Nations Procurement Division (UNPD), the World Health Organization (WHO), the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), the Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC), and the Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Supply Agency (EPSA), as well as foreign government buyers and procurement vendors. Due to COVID-19, consultations will focus on medical and quarantine supplies such as diagnostic kits and masks, water treatment equipment, road safety facilities, video equipment, and electronic products.
The online overseas procurement market briefing will focus on the procurement markets of the United Nations (UN), the United States, Canada, Kenya, Ethiopia, Poland, and Vietnam. Representatives from each organization will appear as online presenters to deliver information on bidding overviews, processes, registration procedures, precautions, and cases of market entry.
Kwon Pyung-oh, President of KOTRA, stated, “The overseas procurement market is an untapped field worth 9.5 trillion dollars,” and added, “We will steadily build the foundation for our companies’ market entry under the Online Team Korea system.”
