[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] Kim Jeong-nam, Vice Chairman of DB Insurance, has become the first in the insurance industry to receive the Iron Tower Industrial Medal.
On the 19th, at COEX, at the 46th National Quality Management Convention hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Standards Association, Vice Chairman Kim was awarded the Iron Tower Industrial Medal for his contributions to innovation in insurance service quality.
Vice Chairman Kim joined Korea Automobile Insurance, the predecessor of DB Insurance, as an employee and worked for 41 years, becoming the longest-serving CEO in the industry.
Upon his appointment as CEO of DB Insurance in 2010, he declared the vision of "a global insurance financial group pursuing a happy society together with customers." Since then, the number of customers grew from 5.3 million to 10 million, a 1.9-fold increase; sales rose from 6 trillion KRW to 13.7 trillion KRW, a 2.3-fold increase; and total assets expanded from 10 trillion KRW to 43.7 trillion KRW, a 4.3-fold growth, achieving remarkable results.
Additionally, DB Insurance was the first domestic non-life insurance company to achieve the highest global rating on the DJSI (Dow Jones Sustainability Index) for six consecutive years starting in 2013, and also won the National Quality Award in 2015.
In 2016, it became the first in the financial services sector to produce National Quality Masters for two consecutive years, and from 2017 to 2020, it won six gold, two silver, and one bronze awards at the National Quality Small Group Competition, establishing itself as a leader in quality innovation.
Vice Chairman Kim emphasizes communication and annually holds the "Understanding Customers" event, visiting customers with 100 executives and department heads to listen directly to their voices. The consumer evaluation group composed of customers has also been operating for 10 years.
To honestly hear employees' opinions, since his inauguration, he has conducted the program "CEO and TongTongTong" more than 66 times, communicating with about 3,500 employees and partners.
Vice Chairman Kim stated, "As a pioneer in quality management history in the financial services industry, we will continue to repay the support of 10 million customers and the entire nation by providing creative, top-quality customer service as a trusted insurance company."
