NodePass, which operates a password management app, announced on the 21st that this password ranked first among the 200 most used passwords selected this year. It is used by approximately 2.5 million people and can be hacked within one second.
Last year's number one was '12345', but this year a '6' was added. This seems to reflect an increased awareness of cybersecurity. However, the US IT media outlet BGR sarcastically commented, "Last year 12345 was number one, but adding one more digit made it 0% safer from hacking." '12345' ranked eighth this year. The second place password is '123456789'.

'picture1' ranked third among passwords. The reason why more than 370,000 people suddenly used it this year to reach third place has not been revealed. However, unlike other passwords in the top 10, this unfamiliar password reportedly takes three hours to hack.
Among the passwords ranked in the top 10, only 'picture1' and 'senha' (ranked 10th) were noted to take more than one second to hack. 'Senha' means 'password' in Portuguese.
90 days, mixed characters, different passwords for each account
NodePass stated to the US news channel CNN that it received 275 million passwords from a third-party company specializing in data breach research and analyzed them accordingly.
NodePass emphasized, "If your password is included in this year's list, you should change it," and suggested, "Change your password every 90 days by mixing uppercase and lowercase letters, and create different passwords for each account."
