[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Sky E&M is showing strong performance. It appears that the news of entering the cold chain system construction business for the COVID-19 vaccine has had an impact.
As of 2:58 PM on the 19th, Sky E&M was trading at 2,370 KRW, up 3.72% (85 KRW) compared to the previous trading day.
Sky E&M announced that it will utilize a cold storage warehouse built on approximately 7,000 pyeong of land in Geumsan, Chungbuk, for storing COVID-19 vaccines. To this end, it is conducting close consultations with domestic pharmaceutical and chemical companies regarding the cold chain distribution of COVID-19 vaccines.
Sky E&M has focused on producing electrolytes used in electric vehicle batteries in its main chemical business division and has manufactured and sold various chemical products. Some chemical products supplied to companies such as SK Hynix have been distributed under cold conditions, thus already utilizing a certain level of cold chain systems.
The company stated, "Currently, we have entered into close consultations with domestic pharmaceutical and chemical companies that can collaborate on the cold chain distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. In particular, we plan to actively consult with local governments by utilizing the regional industrial cluster based in the Chungcheong area, where our headquarters is located."
