[Asia Economy Reporter Ji-hwan Park] The market capitalization leader in virtual currency, Bitcoin, rose to 19.44 million KRW, marking the highest level in about three years since December 2017.

According to the virtual currency exchange Bithumb on the 18th, as of 9:45 AM, Bitcoin was priced at 19.447 million KRW, up 3.62% (680,000 KRW) compared to 24 hours earlier. Transactions worth 91 billion KRW took place during the day.

Most other cryptocurrencies also showed an upward trend. Ethereum (3.50%), Ripple (1.52%), and Bitcoin Cash (1.15%) all increased.

Bitcoin prices were also strong in overseas markets. According to the virtual currency market data company CoinMarketCap, at the same time, Bitcoin was priced at $17,621.39, up 5.31% compared to 24 hours earlier.

Other cryptocurrencies also showed notable gains. Ethereum and Ripple rose by 6.57% and 5.85%, respectively. Litecoin (1.08%) and Tether (0.05%) also showed upward trends.
