[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] Samyang Foods announced on the 18th that it has launched two types of Mini Jjangu Mexicana Fried Chicken Flavor and Seasoned Chicken Flavor in collaboration with the chicken franchise Mexicana.
'Mini Jjangu' is a newly introduced product that reduces the size and weight of Samyang Foods' long-selling snack 'Original Jjangu,' released in 1973, and adds Mexicana chicken flavor. The consumer price is 1,000 won.
In particular, Mini Jjangu, which is not hard but crispier, features the addition of Mexicana's fried chicken powder and seasoned chicken sauce, effectively replicating the taste and flavor of real chicken. The taste completeness was enhanced by applying Mexicana's know-how as is.
The two types of Mini Jjangu feature a package design reminiscent of Original Jjangu, with a Jjangu character delivering chicken added for fun. Also, the package is made slender and long so that it can be held in one hand and enjoyed conveniently.
A Samyang Foods official said, "The two types of Mini Jjangu reflect consumers' needs for various flavors and small-sized products," adding, "We plan to target young consumers through various attempts that fit the trend in the future."
Meanwhile, Mexicana plans to hold an event starting December 1st, where customers who purchase Mexicana fried chicken and seasoned chicken will receive one Mini Jjangu of the same flavor for each chicken. Customers ordering through delivery apps, online orders, and offline phone orders can all participate.
