Jongno-gu to Host "Autumn Is Falling Wednesday" Program Every Wednesday at 7:30 PM Until December 2 at Cheongun Literature Library... Welcoming the Literary Season 'Autumn' with Mid-Career Poets Invited to Share Insights on Poetic Language and Appreciation Techniques
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jongno-gu (District Mayor Kim Young-jong) is operating the program "Autumn Falls on Wednesday" with poets every Wednesday from November 11 to December 2 at the Hanok Seminar Room of Cheongun Literature Library (36 Jahamun-ro 36-gil 40).
To welcome the literary season of autumn, this event was prepared at Cheongun Literature Library, a literature-specialized library, to help understand the language of poets and to pass on the secrets of appreciating poetry.
As part of the series "All Our Seasons with Poetry," mid-career poets representing Korea are giving lectures to provide participants with high-quality opportunities to enjoy poetry literature.
The program consists of a total of four sessions.
On November 11, poet Jeong Kkeut-byeol gave a lecture titled "Finding the Breath and Rhythm of Poetry," and on the 18th, poet Son Taek-su will lead the program with the theme "We Were All Born Poets."
On the third Wednesday, November 25, poet Jang Seok-nam will lecture on "The Sound of Geese from a Thousand Years Ago," and on December 2, poet Na Hee-deok will give a lecture titled "Poetry Speaks of Poetry."
This will be an excellent opportunity to enjoy the deepening autumn night atmosphere with poets and to feel the richness and beauty of the heart that poetry brings.
In addition, Cheongun Literature Library is also conducting a poetry writing workshop titled "Becoming Autumn Poets."
Starting November 6 and running every Friday at 2 p.m. until December 11, the workshop consists of activities such as "Choosing a Poem," "Copying a Poem," and "Montage Poetry Writing." Poet Song Seung-hwan is the instructor, helping participants enjoy and write poetry more easily.
Meanwhile, Cheongun Literature Library, where this program and workshop are held, is a Hanok public library facing the beautiful scenery of Hanyangdoseong Trail and Inwangsan Mountain. Nearby are the Yun Dong-ju Literature Museum and Poet’s Hill, making it a tourist attraction where visitors can fully experience Seoul’s history and culture.
The library holds a variety of literary books focusing on poetry, novels, and essays, providing residents with a space for reading, contemplation, and rest. It has consistently hosted diverse cultural and artistic programs such as planned exhibitions centered on domestic literary works and authors, humanities lectures, and poetry writing classes.
District Mayor Kim Young-jong said, “The Cheongun-dong area where Cheongun Literature Library is located is a culturally specialized area with nearby attractions like the Yun Dong-ju Literature Museum, and its scenery is exceptionally beautiful, loved by many.” He added, “Through this program, I hope residents broaden their appreciation of poetry literature and have a healing time amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.”
