2020 Seoul International Performing Arts Festival Online Opening... 17 Performances Until the 29th

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The representative performing arts festival, 'Seoul Performing Arts Festival (SPAF)', will be held on the online platform Naver TV until the 29th.

SPAF is co-hosted by the Arts Management Support Center (Yegyeong) and the Korea Arts Council (Arts Council), and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

SPAF began in 2001 and marks its 20th edition this year. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, this year’s festival meets audiences online through Naver TV’s official channels (General, Theater, Dance). It features 17 outstanding domestic and international performances, from 'Ambiguous Dance Company', the star of the Korea Tourism Organization’s Korean promotional video which recorded 260 million views online, to J?r?me Bel, an icon of contemporary French dance.

Reflecting the COVID-19 era, performances such as Theater Company Noltang’s 'I Came Out Recklessly to Meet You', 'Borderline' co-produced by Korea’s creative VaQi and Germany’s Residenz Theater, which was filmed with Korean and German actors performing about 10,000 km apart, Showville Company’s adaptation 'About My Daughter', Theater Company Dong’s 'New Moon, or The Way You Remember the World', Theater Company Mucheon’s 'Yonadap', and Creative Group Heebissanggokseon’s 'Pansori Copyist Bartleby' can be viewed on Naver TV’s official channels.

Additionally, to commemorate SPAF’s 20th anniversary, performances such as Ahn Eun-mi Company’s 'I Am Twenty Years Old', Ground Zero Project’s 'Extinction', Hwang Soo-hyun’s 'I Think About What That Person Feels', Kim Sung-hoon Dance Project’s 'Pool', Singing Actors’ '13 Fruitcake', Heo Sung-im’s 'Nut Crusher', Choi Jin-young’s 'NOT FOR SALE', and 99 Art Company’s 'Je II' are also available online.

All performances can be viewed for a fee through 'Naver Live Sponsorship', a sponsorship format aimed at early establishment of performance video distribution and consumption. The sponsorship amount starts at a minimum of 5,000 KRW per person (basic amount), and reward products and 'online viewing tickets (links)' are provided according to the amount.

Detailed information on the screening schedule and live sponsorship can be found on the Seoul Performing Arts Festival website, SNS channels, and Naver blog.
