[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter]Hanwha Systems is set to develop the nation's first defense command and control service applying artificial intelligence (AI).
On the 13th, Hanwha Systems announced that it was selected as the preferred negotiation partner for the 'Intelligent Battlefield Recognition Service and Platform Integration Technology' project by the Defense Industry Technology Support Center affiliated with the Agency for Defense Development.
This project is the first development case to actively apply AI, a future core technology, to military command systems, with a budget of 15 billion KRW over four years.
Hanwha Systems will play a role in developing the intelligent battlefield recognition service, implementing big data and AI platforms, and integrating battlefield situation simulation tasks.
The intelligent battlefield recognition service collects various battlefield information and tactical data in real time and provides commanders with multi-analysis results of battlefield situations through AI learning models.
Commanders can quickly and accurately recognize battlefield situations and make operational command decisions based on statistical and probability-based information analysis provided by the AI staff officer.
Based on the intelligent battlefield recognition service, AI will be applied to propose suitable operations to commanders and complete an intelligent command decision support system that provides customized strategies according to unit size, commander's rank, and operation type.
Kim Yeon-cheol, CEO of Hanwha Systems, said, "We will realize the advancement of weapon systems by applying cutting-edge 4th industrial revolution technologies to core capabilities in military command and control."
