[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-eun] A man in his 40s under police investigation for possessing sexual exploitation materials took his own life.

According to the Jin'an Police Station in Jeonbuk on the 11th, A (in his 40s) was found dead in a car in Seongsu-myeon, Jin'an-gun on the 8th. The police received a missing person report from A's family and tracked the car's license plate, leading to the discovery of A's body on the morning of the 8th. The vehicle was reportedly parked on a sidewalk rarely used by pedestrians.

At the time of discovery, A had been dead for about three days. After a comprehensive examination of the situation inside the car, the police found no signs of homicide and are investigating the detailed circumstances.

No suicide note was found, but it is known that on the 6th, A left home after sending a text message to his family saying, "Take good care of the child," and then turned off his phone.

Last month, A was subjected to a police search on suspicion of possessing child and adolescent sexual exploitation materials. The police confirmed materials related to the Telegram 'Baksa-bang' (Doctor's Room), which produced and distributed sexual exploitation content, on A's external hard drive and conducted an investigation. With A's death, the ongoing investigation is expected to be closed due to 'lack of prosecutorial rights.'

As investigations expand targeting hundreds of free members and simple possessors of sexual exploitation sharing sites like the N Room and Baksa-bang, incidents of suspects taking their own lives continue, including a man in his 20s found dead at home last month before a police investigation related to Baksa-bang.
