[Featured Stocks] Deokseong, Quro, Genco Rise... Highlighting Seoul National University and Training Institute Alumni Employment Amid Yoon Seok-yeol's Top Approval Rating

[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] Duksung, Quro, and Genco are showing strong performance as they are classified as 'Yoon Seok-yeol theme stocks.' This appears to be highlighted by the fact that a director who was a classmate of Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol at Seoul National University Law School and the Judicial Research and Training Institute is currently serving on their boards.

As of 10:27 AM on the 11th, the stock price of Duksung, a synthetic leather and synthetic resin sales company, rose 28.51% from the previous day to 9,510 KRW. At the same time, Quro, a chemical industrial equipment manufacturer, also increased by 10.60% to 721 KRW compared to the previous day. Genco, a clothing company, rose about 5% to 1,250 KRW.

The commonality among these companies from different industries is that alumni of Prosecutor General Yoon are serving as executives. Duksung’s CEO Lee Bong-geun and outside director Kim Won-il are known to be alumni of Seoul National University Law School alongside Yoon. Quro’s outside director Cho Sung-kwon passed the 33rd judicial examination and was part of the 23rd class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute, the same as Yoon. Director Cho is also registered as an outside director at Genco. Both Quro and Genco have Qurocom as their largest shareholder. Due to this background, all have been linked as 'Yoon Seok-yeol theme stocks,' and their prices surged following news of Yoon’s leading position in the presidential candidate approval ratings.

Earlier, Prosecutor General Yoon ranked first with a 24.7% approval rating in a next presidential candidate preference survey conducted by Hangil Research on behalf of Cookie News from the 7th to the 9th, targeting 1,022 adult men and women nationwide (confidence level 95%, margin of error ±3.1 percentage points). He surpassed Lee Nak-yeon, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea (22.2%), and Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province (18.4%).
