[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The play "The Last Actor" by the theater company ICONTACT received the Grand Prize at the 10th Seoul Future Theater Festival.

The 10th Seoul Future Theater Festival opened on the 20th of last month and showcased five performances until the 2nd of this month. Hosted by the Seoul Theater Association, the festival concluded with a joint evaluation meeting held on the 9th at the Areum Hall of Seoul Women's University Daehangno Campus.

ICONTACT presented "The Last Actor," a fresh concept based on the 'last' performance of the world's only remaining 'last' actor, as an audience-participatory play where the audience invited to a theatrical memorial ceremony co-created the experience. The judging panel commented, "The attempt itself was bold, actively contemplating and proposing what theater should be and what it can do in the pandemic era, and generously sharing that with the audience."

Along with the Grand Prize, ICONTACT received a prize money of 8 million won.

Moon Sam-hwa, the artistic director of the Seoul Future Theater Festival, completed a two-year term, and from next year, Jeong Beom-cheol, CEO of Theater Development Center 301, will take over as artistic director to lead the Seoul Future Theater Festival.
