Gyeongbuk Sangju Museum Operates 'Confucian Woodblock Printing' Program ... Co-planned with National Institute of Korean Studies

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] Sangju City in Gyeongbuk announced on the 9th that the Municipal Museum, together with the Academy of Korean Studies (President Jo Hyun-jae), operated the traveling Confucian woodblock printing exhibition program "Museum Meets School" on the 6th.

A total of 134 third and fourth graders from Sangju Jungang Elementary School participated in this educational program. The students viewed various replicas of Korea's Confucian woodblocks, confirming the excellence of our culture, and also experienced printing content themselves using printing woodblocks.

Korea's Confucian woodblocks are recognized for their value as the result of collective intelligence passed down through generations, and were registered as a UNESCO Memory of the World in 2015.

A representative from the Sangju Museum said, "We hope this educational program provided students with a meaningful time to learn about the production process of Korea's Confucian woodblocks and to once again understand the excellence of our cultural heritage," adding, "We will continue to strive to present high-quality educational programs to citizens through various collaborative activities with the Academy of Korean Studies."
