[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] As President-elect Joe Biden has declared victory, attention is focused on the actions of the defeated U.S. President Donald Trump. Traditionally, the U.S. presidential election proceeds with the concession of the loser followed by the victory declaration of the winner, but President Trump is refusing to concede, raising allegations of election fraud.

On the 8th (local time), President Trump's silence continues. After U.S. media declared that Biden won the Pennsylvania and Nevada elections the day before, and President-elect Biden declared victory, President Trump has remained quiet on Twitter. When U.S. media declared Biden as the winner of this election, President Trump claimed, "This election is far from over," and accused, "They are prematurely and falsely acting as the winner."

Through Twitter, President Trump made statements such as "Election observers were not allowed into the counting centers," "I received 71 million legitimate votes," and "As the incumbent president, I received the most votes."

However, after President-elect Biden's victory declaration and related events, he has maintained silence.

Meanwhile, CNN reported that Jared Kushner, President Trump's son-in-law and close aide, senior White House advisor, suggested to President Trump to acknowledge the election defeat.

According to CNN, despite the election results being finalized, there has been no communication between President-elect Biden and President Trump or between the two election camps.

This year’s U.S. presidential election has proceeded breaking the traditional norms of U.S. presidential elections, causing ongoing confusion.

Because of this, attention is focused on who will persuade President Trump to accept the election results. Besides Kushner, other figures mentioned as potential persuaders include daughter Ivanka Trump, wife Melania Trump, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, and White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.
