Harris Becomes Vice President... First Woman and Asian American Title in the US

Black and Indian Descent
Brilliantly Revived as Vice President Despite Primary Defeat
Likely to Aim for Next Presidential Election

President-elect Harris is of Black and Indian descent. This is why Asian Americans, especially Indian Americans, were enthusiastic the moment Harris was nominated as the Democratic vice presidential candidate.

Harris, a former Attorney General of California, was known as a 'fighter' who fiercely challenged Biden during the presidential primary, drawing attention.

Although she dropped out of the primary due to financial difficulties, she made a spectacular comeback by being nominated as the vice presidential candidate. Since Biden had initially announced his intention to nominate a woman as his running mate, Harris, who could gain support from both Black and Asian communities, was the right choice.

Now, having succeeded in being elected Vice President, Harris has rapidly risen from a freshman senator to the center of American politics.

Especially considering Biden's advanced age of 78 at inauguration, Harris is seen as having the potential to run for the presidency next, laying the foundation to challenge for the first female president, a feat Hillary Clinton failed to achieve.

With Harris's election, the term for the Vice President's spouse, 'Second Lady,' is expected to change to 'Second Gentleman.'
