[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] During the trial of Professor Jeong Gyeong-sim of Dongyang University, the spouse of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, a spectator dissatisfied with the prosecution's sentencing demand caused a disturbance and was detained.

On the 5th, at the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 25-2 (Presiding Judges Lim Jeong-yeop, Kwon Seong-su, Kim Seon-hee), during the sentencing hearing of Professor Jeong, spectator A shouted "What kind of nonsense is this?" and caused a disturbance when the prosecution demanded a 7-year prison sentence.

The court stated, "You will be detained for 3 hours for the trial," but in reality, after about 2 hours of detention, A was brought back to the courtroom and a contempt trial was conducted.

A explained, "I thought the prosecutors' statements were disconnected from the citizens," and "I was so angry that I muttered to myself, but the judge heard it."

The court pointed out, "The problem is that it was heard." However, when A apologized, saying "I'm sorry if it caused any disruption," the court accepted it and did not impose a penalty. However, A's spectator rights were confiscated, and measures were taken to prevent attendance at the sentencing date.

The prosecution requested that Professor Jeong, who was indicted on charges including her children's admission corruption and private equity fund investment suspicions, be sentenced to "7 years in prison and fined 900 million won."
