[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Sejong City has begun securing national funds for the construction of the National Assembly Sejong Office Building.
On the 5th, Lee Chun-hee, Mayor of Sejong City, visited the National Assembly and met with Park Hong-geun, Budget and Accounts Committee (BAC) Whip of the Democratic Party of Korea, Park Sung-min, BAC member of the People Power Party, Jin Sun-mi, Chairperson of the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, Jang Kyung-tae, member of the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, and Han Jeong-ae, Policy Committee Chair of the Democratic Party of Korea, to request national funding support for regional projects.
First, to expedite the construction of the National Assembly Sejong Office Building, he proposed including 12.7 billion KRW for design costs in next year’s government budget. Including the 2 billion KRW already allocated in 2022 and 2023, a total of 14.7 billion KRW will be secured. According to the National Assembly Secretariat’s review, the basic survey and design costs for the Sejong Office Building are expected to be around 14.7 billion KRW.
Mayor Lee also urged attention to regional issues such as the Jochiwon Bypass Road (3.2 billion KRW), Sejong Venture Valley Industrial Complex Access Road (5 billion KRW), Sejong Smart Green Industrial Complex Access Road (12.9 billion KRW), and fostering innovation projects in the Regulatory Free Zone (125.2 billion KRW).
