[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Baedal Minjok (Baemin) has established a cooperative system with IoT specialist company HDC I Controls to advance outdoor autonomous delivery robots. Through this collaboration, Baemin has gained momentum in developing a 'robot that delivers within apartment complexes,' scheduled for release in the first half of next year.

Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baemin (CEO Kim Beom-jun), announced on the 3rd that it signed a 'Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Robot Delivery Service Construction Project' with HDC I Controls (CEO Kim Sung-eun). The core of this agreement is to link HDC I Controls' home IoT server with Baemin's delivery robots to develop robots that deliver food from commercial facilities within apartment complexes to individual unit doors. HDC I Controls operates servers that control the linkage and notifications between each unit's wall pad and the shared entrance doors. Once the server and delivery robots are linked, the robots will have free access to the shared entrance, and the delivery process can be monitored via the wall pad.

Once the technical integration between the two companies is completed, the entire process?from the delivery robot departing from a restaurant in the apartment complex's commercial area, passing through the first-floor shared entrance, taking the elevator, to arriving at the apartment door?can proceed smoothly. Previously, Baemin signed an agreement with Hyundai Elevator to prepare for the integration between delivery robots and elevators. Based on this, Baemin plans to pilot operate delivery robots equipped with integrated indoor and outdoor autonomous driving functions in the Gwanggyo Alleyway complex shopping mall and I-Park apartments in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, in the first half of next year.

Kim Beom-jun, CEO of Woowa Brothers, said, "This collaboration will further advance Baemin's robot delivery service," adding, "Woowa Brothers will continuously improve the robot delivery service and enhance convenience to create an evolved delivery ecosystem."
