[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] The wrestling team of Gyeongnam National University won first place in the university division team competition at the "57th Presidential National Wrestling Championship" held at Andong Gymnasium in Gyeongsangbuk-do.
Starting with a 4:2 victory over Daegu University in the preliminaries, they advanced to the finals by defeating Yongin University 4:2 in the semifinals.
In the final match against Dankook University, Gyeongnam National University took an early lead with a 2:0 score, thanks to the performances of Choi Won-jun (3rd year, Department of Physical Education) and Kim Hye-min (1st year, Department of Physical Education).
Despite Dankook University's fierce counterattack, Kang Sung-in (4th year, Department of Physical Education) and Wang Deok-hyun (3rd year, Department of Physical Education) consecutively subdued their opponents, securing the championship with a final score of 4:2.
Gyeongnam National University achieved a double crown in the team competition by winning the university division team event at the "50th Chairman's National Wrestling Championship" held in Goseong on the 26th of last month.
Additionally, in the individual competition of the tournament, Choi Won-jun placed 3rd in the lightweight category under 75kg, Wang Deok-hyun and Oh Cheol-woon placed 3rd in the warrior category under 95kg, and Kim Jong-seon placed 3rd in the historical category under 105kg.
