Volvo XC60 Ranks First in Residual Value Rate Among Imported Mid-to-Large SUVs

[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] The Volvo premium mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUV) XC60 has been recognized for its marketability by ranking first in residual value among imported cars in the same class.

According to Encar.com on the 2nd, based on a mileage of 20,000 km, the 2019 imported mid-to-large SUV residual value survey results showed that Volvo's XC60 ranked first with 89.1%. The second place was Ford's Explorer (87%), third was Jeep Wrangler (83.8%), and fourth was Land Rover's Discovery (72.2%), in that order.

The mid-size SUV XC60 was a key model that led Volvo to join the '10,000-unit club' last year. This year (from January to August), it maintained its status as the brand's best-selling car by accounting for 21% of total brand sales, continuing its steady popularity.

By age group, the 60 cluster (XC60, S60, CC V60), including the XC60 and mid-size sedan S60, was chosen by many in their 30s and 40s. The 30s accounted for the highest at 22.8%, followed by 40s at 19.7%, and 50s at 10.5%.

A Volvo Korea official said, "The high purchase ratio among the 30s and 40s, who are analyzed as the core customer base of the imported car market, is meaningful from the brand's mid-to-long-term growth perspective."

Since its launch in the domestic market in 2017, the XC60 has been increasing its market share in the domestic imported premium SUV market. It boasts emotional quality and convenience features comparable to the higher-end XC90 model, the IntelliSafe system that enhances safety, and a free warranty service for 5 years or 100,000 km.

In particular, the advanced safety driving convenience features are cited as a major factor for its high residual value. The XC60 comes standard with City Safety and Lane Keeping Aid functions, and also features 'Pilot Assist,' which automatically maintains distance from the vehicle ahead and can drive up to a maximum speed of 140 km/h.

The Park Assist Pilot function, which detects parking spaces through four ultrasonic sensors installed on the front and rear sides of the vehicle and automatically parks the car, is standard on the Inscription trim.
