AK Plaza, First Department Store to Introduce 'Naver Pay' Offline Payment

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] AK Plaza announced on the 2nd that it will introduce the 'Naver Pay' payment service at all department store locations and AK& stores. This is the first time that Naver Pay payment has become available at department store outlets.

Naver Pay is a leading simple payment service in Korea used by over 30 million people. With just a Naver ID, users can make payments easily without going through cumbersome authentication procedures such as certified certificates or security cards. Offline payment users can earn points randomly through point draws, and depending on additional service usage such as ‘Naver Plus Membership,’ they can accumulate up to 4 times the points.

AK Plaza’s strategy is to proactively expand the simple payment system by introducing Naver Pay to attract a broader consumer base. It is available at all AK Plaza department stores including Bundang, Suwon, Pyeongtaek, and Wonju locations, as well as AK& Hongdae and Giheung stores.

An AK Plaza representative stated, "In the era of COVID-19, we planned this service to minimize the inconvenience of handing cash and cards back and forth and to provide customers with shopping convenience and benefits through the introduction of a simple payment service."
