[Asia Economy Kim Hyun-jun, Golf Specialist Reporter] '22-year-old rookie' Dak Redman (USA) has seized his first victory opportunity on the PGA Tour.
On the 1st, at the Bermuda Championship held at Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton, Bermuda (par 71, 6,828 yards), he shot 4-under par on the third day to take a one-stroke lead (10-under 203). He was the 2017 US Amateur Championship winner. Turning professional in 2018, he caused a stir by finishing second at the Rocket Mortgage Classic last July. Following a third-place finish at the Wyndham Championship in July and another third place at the Safeway Open in September, which is part of the 2021 season, his momentum is steadily building.
Redman recorded five birdies (one bogey) that day. Most notably, he operated a 'pinpoint iron shot' with a green hit rate of 77.78% amid strong winds, which is encouraging. Ryan Armour, Wyndham Clark, and Kramer Hickok (all from the USA) are chasing in a three-way tie for second place, one stroke behind (9-under 204). Lee Kyoung-hoon (29, CJ Logistics) lost as many as five strokes, dropping to a tie for 61st place (3-over 216). He suffered a critical blow with two birdies, five bogeys, and a double bogey on the 15th hole (par 4).
