[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] JT Savings Bank is being sold to a financial investment company.
The Japanese J Trust Group announced that it has selected VI Financial Investment as the preferred bidder for the sale of its domestic affiliate JT Savings Bank.
J Trust Group recently held a board meeting, gave final approval to VI Financial Investment as the preferred bidder, and signed a stock transfer agreement between the two parties.
A company official stated, "We have been negotiating individually with the buyer, and the group’s board considered not only price factors but also non-price factors such as employment stability through job succession, long-term investment commitment for sustainable growth, and business synergy effects after acquisition."
The sale will be finalized once the Financial Services Commission approves the major shareholder suitability review.
OK Savings Bank Volunteers for Financial Consumer Education
OK Savings Bank conducted financial consumer education for the elderly at the Seoul Municipal Seongbuk Senior Welfare Center.
The savings bank provides financial consumer protection education targeting financially vulnerable groups such as the elderly and disabled who are in blind spots for financial information.
They held a session on how to prevent voice phishing to avoid financial accidents. In particular, they also conveyed information about smishing crimes impersonating family members, relatives, and acquaintances, introducing the increasingly diverse financial crimes and emphasizing caution.
Jung Gil-ho, CEO of OK Savings Bank, said, "It is meaningful to continuously provide correct financial information in an easy and enjoyable way and to reflect this in sales policies and company systems for mutual growth, so we will continue financial consumer protection education."
Welcome Savings Bank Relocates Gangnam Branch
Welcome Savings Bank recently relocated its Seoul Gangnam Station branch and reopened.
The new location is on the 3rd floor of the Gangnam Centerville Building across from the Gangnam Station intersection in Seoul. A company official said they redesigned the space to create a caf?-like atmosphere where visiting customers can comfortably relax.
Additionally, to ensure convenient financial services for the elderly and disabled visitors, they installed dedicated counters for financially vulnerable groups as well as large-print and Braille terms and conditions.
Welcome Savings Bank plans to install tablet PCs in the customer waiting area so that any visiting customer can use them in the future.
