'Hotel Ttukshim' Shinsegae... The 6th 'Four Points Myeongdong' Also Unveiled 'Four Points by Sheraton Seoul Myeongdong' Lobby Floor

[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] As Shinsegae Group continues its unstoppable progress in the hotel business, Shinsegae Chosun Hotel has unveiled its sixth hotel, 'Four Points by Sheraton Seoul Myeongdong.' With three hotels scheduled to open from December this year through April next year, the total number of hotels operated by Shinsegae Chosun Hotel is expected to increase to nine.

Four Points Myeongdong Opens on the 30th

Four Points Myeongdong, which opened on the 30th in Jeodong, Jung-gu, Seoul, consists of 375 rooms across 26 floors, a buffet restaurant called 'Evolution,' a lounge & bar, a fitness club, meeting rooms, and other facilities. The opening ceremony was attended by Lee Yongjin, Head of Development at Shinsegae Chosun Hotel; Hwang Seonpyo, Director at SK D&D; Ham Yunseong, CEO of SK D&D; Shin Donghoon, Division Head at Aegis Asset Management; Han Chaeyang, CEO of Shinsegae Chosun Hotel; Nam Giduk, CEO of Marriott International Korea; Bae Jonggeon, Executive Director at Taeyoung Construction; Brian Baek, Head of New Hotel Division at Shinsegae Chosun Hotel; and Yang Bongcheol, General Manager of Four Points by Sheraton Seoul Myeongdong.

The concept of Four Points Myeongdong is 'a space for the independent traveler.' The hotel offers modern yet casual rooms, with four types available: Superior, Deluxe, Premier, and Euljiro Suite. Guests can enjoy views of Namsan Tower, Dongdaemun, and Euljiro, allowing them to forget the fatigue of busy daily life and enjoy social life or a hotel vacation.

The interior of the hotel is inspired by 1970s Euljiro. Through collaboration with the domestic design brand 'Made Hanmeot,' which captures the beauty of Hangul, Korean aesthetic elements are incorporated throughout the hotel. The all-day dining buffet restaurant 'Evolution' offers about 70 breakfast menus from around the world, and for lunch, approximately 90 live grill items including BBQ chicken, pork ribs, and grilled short rib patties. In the evening, guests can enjoy a semi-buffet menu featuring dishes inspired by Euljiro's vibe, unlimited beer, and happy hour time. At the lounge & bar, coffee is available for pickup.

Second Opening Amid COVID-19 Business Slump
'Hotel Ttukshim' Shinsegae... The 6th 'Four Points Myeongdong' Also Unveiled 'Grand Josun Busan' Lobby

Despite the business downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic this year, Shinsegae Chosun Hotel has opened two new hotels: 'Grand Josun Busan' and Four Points Myeongdong. More new hotels are lined up to open from the end of this year through next year. In particular, following the 'L'Escape Hotel,' the company continues to introduce its own brand hotels emphasizing unique identities while adopting a strategic brand partnership with Marriott International to attract overseas business customers.

First, in December, 'Gravity Seoul Pangyo, Autograph Collection' will open in Baekhyeon-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province. It aims to become a modern hub within the community through various regional linkage programs and will be developed as a lifestyle hotel brand. The hotel will have 306 rooms. Also in December, the existing 'Kensington Hotel Jeju' will be remodeled and relaunched as 'Grand Josun Jeju,' expected to have a total of 271 rooms. In April next year, the 'Josun Palace Seoul Gangnam, Luxury Collection' is scheduled to open. This is Shinsegae Chosun Hotel's top-tier independent hotel brand above the 'Grand Josun' level, located on Teheran-ro in Gangnam, Seoul, on the site of the former 'Renaissance Seoul' hotel, with 254 rooms.

Various changes are also being attempted to strengthen competitiveness within existing hotels. 'Four Points by Sheraton Seoul Station,' which opened in 2015, changed its name from 'Four Points by Sheraton Seoul Namsan' in August to refresh its image. This was to externally promote its geographical advantage connected to Seoul Station and to solidify its image as a business-class hotel.
