[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) announced on the 30th that it presented five major institutional improvement recommendations to resolve unfairness in people's lives at the '18th Social Relations Ministers' Meeting' held on the same day.
In July, the ACRC recommended institutional improvements to metropolitan and provincial offices of education nationwide, including granting female students the right to choose pants as part of school-organized uniform purchases and preventing excessive pricing on items with high additional purchase rates, such as blouses.
This year’s unfairness resolution tasks included not only the school-organized uniform purchase system but also ▲ alleviating inconveniences for users of content subscription services ▲ enhancing fairness related to alternative military service for supplementary service personnel ▲ improving the national professional qualification exam application fee system ▲ and increasing transparency in the rental of public cultural facilities.
The ACRC’s institutional improvements are centered on tasks prepared based on big data analysis of complaints received through the People’s Petition System and opinions collected from the National Idea Platform.
After conducting field surveys on the tasks, analyzing problems, preparing improvement plans, and consulting with related ministries, the ACRC makes recommendations to relevant institutions.
The ACRC emphasized, "We do not stop at recommendations but ensure the implementation capacity of the responsible ministries through active management such as monitoring implementation status and publicizing non-compliant institutions in the media."
Jeon Hyun-hee, Chairperson of the ACRC, stated, "We will continue to gather public opinions and work together with citizens to improve unreasonable systems," adding, "We ask for much interest and participation so that the ongoing survey on improving the working environment of delivery workers on the National Idea Platform can lead to institutional improvements based on good suggestions from the public."
