[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Cheongam University (President Seo Hyung-won) signed a business agreement on the 28th at the Cheongam Hall conference room to promote industry-academia cooperation. The agreement was made with Seo Hyung-won, the president, and Park Jong-gil, CEO of Bluecomics Co., Ltd., an independent webtoon production studio of Mr. Blue Co., Ltd., along with about 10 related personnel.
The two organizations agreed to cooperate on △ nurturing talent required by industries △ collaboration on industrial field experience and practical on-site training △ development of customized curricula △ mutual participation in non-regular programs and lecture exchanges △ joint projects through industry-academia cooperation.
At the signing ceremony, President Seo Hyung-won said, “Bluecomics Co., Ltd. is a blue ocean company with a bright future,” adding, “Since Bluecomics Co., Ltd. has a good working environment, work efficiency is expected to improve. Let us build a cooperative relationship that also contributes to regional development.”
Park Jong-gil, CEO of Bluecomics Co., Ltd., stated, “With the support and help of Cheongam University, the 24 employees at the Suncheon studio quickly adapted within just a few months,” and added, “Next year, we plan to carry out more projects and will consider the webtoon sector more deeply, aiming to develop mutually with the university.”
In the industry-academia cooperation agreement, Cheongam University and Bluecomics Co., Ltd. agreed to concretize joint curriculum development through customized education to establish a regional comic culture industry ecosystem and nurture talent desired by Bluecomics Co., Ltd.
Meanwhile, Bluecomics Co., Ltd., a webtoon production platform of Mr. Blue Co., Ltd., relocated its Seoul headquarters to the Health and Welfare Center of Cheongam University in Suncheon on September 1st, starting operations, taking advantage of participating in the reshoring program conducted by the Jeonnam Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency.
On September 22nd, Bluecomics Co., Ltd. signed an employment agreement with Cheongam University’s newly established departments for next year, the Webtoon Contents Department and the Computer Information Department, agreeing to hire 20 and 10 personnel respectively.
Cheongam University had previously signed a business agreement with Suncheon City in August to establish a regional comic culture industry cooperation system.
Building on this, Cheongam University’s Webtoon Contents Department and Suncheon City’s Global Webtoon Center plan to actively promote cooperative projects to share a vision for the global future of the regional comic industry and talent development, as well as to advance the ecosystem foundation of the regional comic industry.
Bluecomics Co., Ltd., which signed the agreement with Cheongam University on this day, will support the process of promoting regional comic culture industry talent development and competitiveness enhancement projects with Suncheon City and Cheongam University in the future.
