Enjoy the Beautiful Autumn Foliage of Baegamsan in Naejangsan National Park Safely and Smartly
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Baegamsa Office of Naejangsan National Park under the Korea National Park Service (Director Lee Jaewon) announced on the 30th that they ask visitors to practice safe and smart ways to enjoy the beautiful autumn foliage of Naejangsan National Park.
The autumn foliage of Baegamsan in Naejangsan National Park is known as "baby maple" with 6 to 7 finger-like lobes, small leaves, and beautiful colors, making it a well-known spot for autumn leaves since ancient times.
The Baegamsa Office of Naejangsan National Park has been receiving many inquiries from people wanting to visit the famous foliage spots despite COVID-19, and they are sharing ways to safely explore the autumn leaves of Naejangsan National Park.
First, decide on your hiking style and duration. If you want a stroll-focused outing, the Baekyang area (2 hours) is suitable; if you want to hike and enjoy the foliage, the Namchang area (5 hours) is ideal.
If you choose the Baekyang area, enjoy the hiking distancing campaign with balloons inscribed with messages such as maintaining 2M distance and wearing masks, and keep to the right side while walking. If you choose the Namchang area, you can safely enjoy the foliage by maintaining safe distances through the reservation system for the low-density hiking course at Gatbawi Trail, following a one-way route (Eunsandong Samgeori ∼ Ipamsanseong South Gate ∼ Gatbawi Summit ∼ Eunsandong Samgeori).
The Baekyang Exploration Support Center and Namchang Exploration Support Center of Baegamsa Office in Naejangsan National Park continuously provide non-face-to-face self-exploration kits, so it is also recommended to take time to learn about the natural resources of the national park under the beautiful autumn scenery and get closer to nature.
If you want to enjoy the autumn foliage more safely this year, it is highly recommended to watch not only the foliage of Naejangsan National Park but also the beautiful autumn leaves of Korea’s national parks with your family and friends at home through the YouTube channel operated by the Korea National Park Service (National Park TV).
Baek Chungyeol, Head of Exploration Facilities at Baegamsa Office of Naejangsan National Park, urged visitors to the national park this autumn to overcome COVID-19 blues by following personal quarantine rules and national park hiking distancing guidelines to have a safe and enjoyable autumn picnic.
