Jang Je-won "Cowardly and Shameless Party"... Kim Woong "Irresponsible and Brazen"
Seoul and Busan Mayoral Candidates Also Join Criticism
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] On the 30th, members of the People Power Party strongly criticized the Democratic Party of Korea for effectively deciding to field candidates in next year's Seoul and Busan mayoral by-elections, using words such as "shameless" and "brazen."
Jang Je-won, a member of the People Power Party, sharpened his remarks through his Facebook on the morning of the same day, saying, "Politicians cause accidents, and party members are left to clean up. Politicians take the spotlight, and the villains are the party members."
He pointed out, "It was the same during the satellite party incident; how can they be so cowardly?" and added, "It was not just anyone, but the party constitution and regulations created by the Innovation Committee, which included Professor Cho Kuk, during President Moon Jae-in's tenure as party leader." Jang said, "At this point, it is 'betrayal of the people,'" and added, "Dealing with such duplicitous and hypocritical people in politics, we too must wear iron masks. If we lose again to such a shameless Democratic Party, the People Power Party will lose its reason to exist."
Park Dae-chul also criticized, saying, "This is secondary victimization insulting the victims and a broken promise mocking the people," and added, "What do they expect from the 'power-type sexual harassment by-election' they caused? They will lose both the Seoul and Busan mayoral seats and the people." Kim Woong also said, "I don't know how this is different from the ugliness of 'committing sexual violence but saying I will take responsibility and keep them,'" and pointed out, "Responsibility means accepting the disadvantages for wrongdoing."
Those considered as candidates for the People Power Party's Seoul and Busan mayoral races also sharply criticized in unison.
Kim Seon-dong, a former secretary-general and a candidate for Seoul mayor, criticized on his Facebook, saying, "If you are going to do it recklessly, at least do it boldly. Saying 'I'm sorry but I can't help it' would be a more honest attitude." He pointed out, "President Moon Jae-in, the core of power, must step forward. The president's neglect of the party constitution he created and the party's conscience and shamelessness that made him president is by no means moral," and added, "President Moon must properly feel the moral weight of this issue."
Park Hyung-joon, former co-chairman of the Future United Party (now People Power Party) election committee preparing to run for Busan mayor, said on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' on the same day, "I felt like they were playing games with the people. If the president is going to overturn a firm promise, there must be a reasonable logic for it," and raised his voice, saying, "In short, it makes politics third-rate."
