Gwangju Seo-gu Holds 'Blood Donation and Organ Donation Registration Event'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Daeseok) announced on the 29th that it will jointly hold a ‘Blood Donation and Organ Donation Registration Event’ with the Gwangju-Jeonnam Blood Center of the Korean Red Cross on the 30th.


The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the blood donation bus in the parking lot in front of the Traffic Department of Seo-gu Office, targeting Seo-gu public officials and general residents.


Those eligible to participate in blood donation are between 16 and under 70 years old, with men weighing at least 50 kg and women at least 45 kg. A valid ID must be brought.


However, those who have infectious diseases or other illnesses, have taken medication or received injections, or are at risk of exposure to specific diseases cannot donate blood.


Those aged 20 or older can apply for organ donation registration, and applicants can fill out the registration form on site.


A Seo-gu official said, “Blood supply has worsened recently due to COVID-19, causing difficulties in treating emergency patients,” and added, “We ask residents and staff for active participation.”
