[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The Ministry of Environment will publish the "2020 Environmental White Paper," which covers the achievements of various environmental policies promoted from last year to the first half of this year, along with key policy information, on the 30th.

The Environmental White Paper has been published since 1982 to introduce the major environmental policies implemented in the previous year, mid- to long-term development directions, and to inform about the key environmental policies of the current year.

The 2020 Environmental White Paper contains "Environmental Policy Achievements" in Part 1, detailed policy promotion trends, outlooks, and plans in Part 2, and major statistics and key work progress logs in the appendix.

Part 1 summarizes the achievements of environmental policies such as ▲fine dust reduction promotion policies ▲integrated water management ▲establishment of the 5th National Comprehensive Environmental Plan ▲expansion of support for humidifier disinfectant victims ▲illegal waste disposal and recycling promotion policies ▲activation of the green economy.

Part 2 provides the status of policies by sector including nature, water, air environment, waste, health environment, and chemical substance management, as well as domestic and international situations, future outlooks, and plans.

This White Paper newly includes content on the seasonal fine dust management system, air management zone system, and smart water supply management system. To mark the 50th anniversary of the Ramsar Convention, it features photos and key information of 23 Ramsar-registered wetlands in Korea in a pictorial section.

The 2020 Environmental White Paper will be distributed to administrative agencies at all levels, educational institutions such as universities, and national and public libraries. It will be sold for a fee at major bookstores nationwide starting at the end of this month. The full text is also posted as a picture file (PDF) on the Ministry of Environment’s website publication board, available for free download and viewing.
