[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Park Young-sun, hereinafter referred to as the Ministry) announced on the 29th that it held the 'AI and Manufacturing Data Strategy Committee' to establish the 'Manufacturing Data Sharing Norms,' a regulation for managing manufacturing data, to promote the production and utilization of high-quality manufacturing data. The newly established 'Manufacturing Data Sharing Norms' were prepared to lay the foundation for the era of 'My Manufacturing Data,' which utilizes manufacturing data generated in smart factories and returns the benefits to the data-producing manufacturing companies.

This serves as the basic principles and regulations necessary for companies to safely store and manage data on-site and analyze and trade it using AI, etc., defining the scope and definition of manufacturing data, transaction requirements, profit distribution principles, and clarifying the rights relationships among producers, providers, and users of manufacturing data.

The 'Manufacturing Data Sharing Norms' provide guidelines on specific sharing conditions for contracts related to the provision and use of manufacturing data, principles of payment for the transfer or use of manufacturing data, and standards for liability guarantees during the generation and use of manufacturing data. It is composed of practical and concrete content so that companies can use it when trading or utilizing manufacturing data on-site.

The Ministry plans to submit the draft of the Manufacturing Data Sharing Norms to the 'AI and Manufacturing Data Strategy Committee' held on the same day and finalize it through expert discussions and feedback collection. It will be applied and operated on the AI SME Manufacturing Platform, which will be fully established by the end of this year. Chairman Cha Jung-hoon of the AI and Manufacturing Data Strategy Committee stated, "For manufacturing data transactions to be activated, it is important not only to build infrastructure such as manufacturing platforms but also to create a safe and fair trading environment," and added, "We plan to continuously supplement the norms not only by establishing the Manufacturing Data Sharing Norms this time but also by focusing on difficulties or shortcomings discovered through actual manufacturing data transactions or usage processes between companies."
