[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] SuzenTec announced on the 29th that it has signed a supply contract with the German diagnostic company 'DiaSys' after receiving approval for its COVID-19 antigen rapid test kit from the German Federal Ministry of Health. The initial supply volume is 200,000 units.
SuzenTec recently obtained the European CE certification for its COVID-19 antigen rapid test kit and received approval from the German Federal Ministry of Health through DiaSys. This contract is for the initial supply, and negotiations for additional supplies are underway based on this agreement.
A SuzenTec official stated, "Having succeeded in obtaining approval from the German Federal Ministry of Health, which has relatively stringent standards, and starting supply in the German region, we expect smooth market entry into other European regions such as France, where confirmed cases are recently spreading." He added, "This contract was made in response to an urgent request, and along with the initial supply of 200,000 units, negotiations for supply through an annual contract are also in progress."
SuzenTec's COVID-19 antigen rapid test kit, 'SGTi-flex COVID-19 Ag,' is a kit that tests for COVID-19 infection using nasopharyngeal swab specimens such as nasal mucus, similar to molecular diagnostic (PCR) methods.
When a specimen is dropped onto the kit, the infection status can be visually read within 20 to 30 minutes, like a pregnancy test kit, allowing suspected patients to be classified immediately at the testing site. It can be analyzed using only the kit without expensive testing equipment or facilities, serving as an alternative to molecular diagnostics.
SuzenTec's COVID-19 antigen rapid test kit has obtained export approval from the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and European CE certification, with exports starting in October. It is expanding exports by obtaining product approvals in various countries across Europe, Asia, and South America, and is also undergoing the U.S. FDA emergency use authorization process.
Following the German government, the French government recently announced that the existing medical system cannot handle the increasing number of COVID-19 confirmed cases, reaching an uncontrollable state, and has imposed a re-lockdown measure across France.
