23 Plaintiffs, Total Damages Amount to 1.2 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] The police have launched an investigation following continuous reports that the CEO of a luxury brand company in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, disappeared after taking money under the pretense of purchasing luxury goods.
The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced on the 29th that they have registered a complaint against Mr. A on charges of fraud and are currently conducting an investigation.
The victims filed complaints stating that Mr. A promised to purchase luxury goods at a low price or sell second-hand luxury items on their behalf but disappeared after taking their money. They have been unable to contact him since he closed his store in August.
There are 23 victims who have filed complaints with the police against Mr. A, with the total damage amounting to 1.2 billion KRW. Including customers who have not filed complaints, the number of victims is estimated to be around 100, with damages reaching 10 billion KRW. It is reported that some of the victims include celebrities and well-known figures.
A police official stated, "Complaints continue to be received, and after completing the investigation of the complainants, we plan to summon and investigate the suspect."
