[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) held an awards ceremony on the 28th for outstanding proposals from the '2020 First Half Idea Contest.'

From January 1 to June 30, a total of 290 ideas were submitted over six months, and after two months of evaluation, seven resident ideas and six staff ideas were selected as outstanding proposals.

Notably, the ideas ranged from addressing pressing social issues such as COVID-19 to key district projects like the Songpa Dullegil, attracting attention for their diversity.

The most outstanding idea among resident proposals was 'Changing the Shade Shelter in Children's Protection Zones to a Yellow Carpet.'

With growing concerns about children's traffic safety, this idea suggested changing the canopy color of shade shelters around children's protection zones from green to yellow to increase driver awareness and prevent accidents. It received high marks for creativity and won the silver prize.

Among staff ideas, many proposals focused on overcoming COVID-19. Noteworthy suggestions included ▲'Introducing a Flush Sensor in Public Restrooms' to minimize skin contact and aid daily quarantine measures (Bronze Prize) ▲'Creating a Street Workout Park' for bodyweight exercises in open spaces along the Songpa Dullegil (Bronze Prize) ▲and 'Operating Small Performance Spots and Art Activity Zones' as open art spaces (Encouragement Prize).

Other resident ideas included ▲Visual design integration for apartments/shops around Pungnap Fortress (Bronze Prize) ▲Job proposals for managing outdoor water fountains in parks (Bronze Prize) ▲Installation of lockers at Seokchon Lake (Bronze Prize) ▲Training guides for the Songpa Dullegil and operating visitor commentary (Encouragement Prize) ▲Providing an app content for home viewing of tourist attractions (Encouragement Prize) ▲and creating a barrier-free trail in Ogeum Park (Encouragement Prize).

Staff ideas adopted included ▲Mobile appointment certificate issuance (Bronze Prize) ▲Establishment of a total management system for CCTV operations (Encouragement Prize) ▲and installation of sculptures at photo zones to remember time and space (Encouragement Prize).

Park Seong-su, Mayor of Songpa-gu, expressed gratitude to all participants, saying, “We sincerely thank everyone who actively participated. We will do our best to incorporate fresh ideas reflecting voices from the field into administration and improve the daily lives of residents.”
