[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] The district unit plan for the Gangdong Urban Development Project, which expands the sports facilities at the Gangdong-gu 2nd Community Sports Center while reducing the parking lot area, has been approved.
On the 28th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government held a joint urban and architectural committee meeting and announced on the 29th that the original plan to amend the district unit plan for the area around 301 Gangil-dong within the Gangdong Urban Development Project district unit plan zone was approved as proposed.
The site is designated as a sports facility site decided during the 2004 urban development zone designation. With the approval of this plan, the sports facility area will expand from 1,763㎡ to 2,480㎡, an increase of 717㎡, while the parking lot area will decrease from 8,703㎡ to 7,986㎡, a reduction of 717㎡.
The city explained, "Due to the rapid population increase in the Gangil and Sangil areas caused by large-scale development projects, there was a need to expand the scale of construction to promote residents' health and support various leisure activities, which led to the 추진 of this district unit plan amendment."
The Gangdong-gu 2nd Community Sports Center will be built as a multi-purpose complex sports facility spanning from three basement floors to four above-ground floors, including a swimming pool and badminton courts.
The city stated, "This lays the foundation for securing insufficient public sports facilities within the Gangil and Sangil living zones, and it is expected that local residents will be able to improve their health and enjoy comfortable sports activities in the future."
