District Mayor Moon Seok-jin Presents Best Practices for Creating a Lifelong Learning City in Seodaemun-gu
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) will participate in the '2020 Yeonsu Asia-Pacific UNESCO Learning Cities Conference' as the president city of the National Lifelong Learning Cities Association and as a representative city of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC).
Co-hosted by the National Lifelong Learning Cities Association and the UNESCO Korea Committee, this event is an international web conference under the theme "Challenges and Growth of UNESCO Learning Cities in the Asia-Pacific Region," with participation from 72 GNLC member cities in the Asia-Pacific region.
Some pre-recordings were conducted on the 27th at Yeonsu Art Hall, Yeonsu-gu Office, Incheon, and the conference will be held via Zoom video conference at 6 PM Korean time on the 29th.
The conference will begin with an opening declaration by Go Nam-seok, Mayor of the host city Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, followed by a special lecture by Professor Han Soong-hee from Seoul National University’s Department of Education, presentations on achievements by UNESCO Learning Cities award-winning and specialized cities, and introductions of GNLC networking cases from other regions.
Mayor Moon Seok-jin will present Seodaemun-gu’s excellent lifelong learning city development cases as the 2019 UNESCO Learning Cities Award-winning city and propose "building a network among Asia-Pacific GNLC member cities" as the president of the National Lifelong Learning Cities Association.
Under the catchphrase "Beyond the COVID-19 era, towards a new normal learning city future united Asia-Pacific GNLC," the conference will also discuss "new online-offline smart platform construction plans in a non-face-to-face society" and "information sharing and cooperative linkage plans among Asia-Pacific GNLC member cities."
