[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk, announced on the 28th that it held the 2nd Residents' Jury Meeting at the main office's 5th-floor conference room, attended by officials from the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters and 38 residents' jurors.

The city had previously commissioned the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters to randomly select participants aged 19 and older through ARS, considering gender, age, and region, and recruited those willing to participate.

After the 2nd telephone interview, 40 people were selected, and 38 who participated in online education due to COVID-19 were finally formed as the residents' jury panel.

At the 2nd meeting held that day, starting with the residents' jurors' appointment ceremony, a comprehensive report on the progress of pledges by the Planning and Budget Office, the department in charge of overall pledges (total 82 pledge projects, progress rate 54%), and 20 pledge projects submitted as adjustment agenda items were thoroughly reviewed.

The residents' jury panel was divided into five subcommittees, and each subcommittee, facilitated by a subcommittee facilitator from the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters, had an in-depth discussion on four assigned adjustment agenda items.

Before this discussion, the team leaders and persons in charge of the adjusted pledge projects attended the meeting to explain the projects to the jurors and sincerely answered their questions, actively assisting the meeting to ensure a more systematic pledge adjustment.

Afterward, a free discussion time was provided for each subcommittee to share plans and impressions regarding future activities.

At the 3rd meeting scheduled for the 9th of next month, the final review of the adjusted pledge projects will be conducted, and the pledge project adjustment plan will be finalized.

The city plans to reflect the improvement measures in the pledge projects after the residents' jury panel sends the pledge project adjustment recommendations in December, following a review process by the relevant departments. The results will be disclosed to citizens through the city hall website in January next year.

A city official said, “The residents' jurors do not merely represent the residents and convey citizens' intentions but learn the sense and ability regarding city administration to grow as partners and leaders of city governance.” He added, “The city will do its best to thoroughly implement the adjusted pledges of the 7th local government term, harmonized and agreed upon with citizens, to enable Jeongeup to grow better.”
