[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Choi Hyun-joo] BNK Gyeongnam Bank has obtained the ‘Excellence Certification for Cultural and Artistic Sponsorship’ selected by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The Excellence Certification for Cultural and Artistic Sponsorship is a system that recognizes companies and public institutions that exemplarily support cultural and artistic activities. It is hosted and organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Arts Council, and conducted by the Korea Management Association Consulting (KMAC).

In document screening, on-site evaluation, and certification review committee deliberation, BNK Gyeongnam Bank was highly evaluated for organizational capability, cultural and artistic sponsorship operation system, and sponsorship achievements.

BNK Gyeongnam Bank has established an organization and personnel responsible for cultural and artistic sponsorship and has carried out various cultural and artistic projects. As the chairman company of the Gyeongnam Mecenat Association, it led the founding of the association at its launch in 2007 and is conducting projects for the beautiful coexistence of companies and culture and arts.

Also, since 1990, it has held annual women’s writing contests and children’s drawing and practical art competitions to support the creative activities of local women and the talent development of children, and has sponsored the Gyeongnam Opera Company, the only opera troupe in the region, for 19 years.

It operates the BNK Gyeongnam Bank Gallery in its head office where local residents and local artists can view and exhibit their works, and supports local cultural and artistic talents through the Youth Dream Star project.

BNK Gyeongnam Bank, which obtained the Excellence Certification for Cultural and Artistic Sponsorship in 2020, receives various incentives such as the use of the certification mark, promotional support for sponsorship activities, and issuance of preferential immigration cards by the Ministry of Justice.

Kim Hyung-su, team leader of the Social Contribution and Public Relations Department, said, “As the saying goes that corporate support for culture and arts is not charity but active investment, BNK Gyeongnam Bank will provide long-term support for the development of local culture and arts.”
