[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Choi Cheol-hong, chairman of Boram Funeral Service Group, won the Grand Prize in the Social Responsibility Management category for the third consecutive year at the '2020 Korea's Most Trusted CEO Management Awards.'
The awards ceremony held on the 27th at the Millennium Hilton Seoul is an event that selects Korea's top CEOs who are respected for building solid trust and demonstrating outstanding management capabilities amid rapidly changing business environments.
Chairman Choi received excellent evaluations in all indicators including ▲leadership ▲management activities and performance ▲social responsibility, being recognized for establishing a customer-centered funeral culture and continuous sharing activities.
When Boram Funeral Service was founded in 1991, Chairman Choi introduced the industry's first fixed pricing system to eradicate the prevalent price bubbles in funeral services and focused on quality improvement. Starting with a limousine exclusively for the deceased and premium services such as LED memorial photo frames, he has strived to enhance the quality of the funeral culture. Recently, he has taken the lead in establishing a modern funeral culture by opening an untact-based online memorial hall.
Also, based on the philosophy that 'funeral service is sharing,' he launched an in-house social volunteer group in 2012 and has carried out various domestic and international volunteer activities such as the Iraq Oriental Medicine Camp, Kidney Love Sharing Campaign, and free longevity photo shoots. Recently, considering COVID-19, he personally visited vulnerable groups and delivered warm gestures such as traditional Korean sweets and kits to support indoor leisure activities.
In recognition of these various social contribution activities, Chairman Choi was appointed Senior Vice President of the Korea United Nations Volunteers in March last year, and he is also active as an advisor to the Korea Funeral Service Industry Association as a pioneer of the funeral service industry.
Chairman Choi said, "I believe that the various sharing and service activities practiced based on the customer-centered philosophy with the spirit of mutual help have been well evaluated," and added, "I will continue to strive to be a CEO and company trusted by the public with an unwavering attitude."
Chairman Choi has also received numerous awards including ▲2016 Korea Sejong the Great Sharing Volunteer Award ▲2017 Social Contribution Award ▲2018 Korea Volunteer Award ▲2020 Empathy Management CEO Award (3 consecutive years) ▲2020 Korea's Influential CEO (4 consecutive years) ▲2020 Korea's Best Management Award.
