[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Seul-gi] The Los Angeles (LA) Dodgers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays to win the World Series (WS) for the first time in 32 years.


On the 28th (Korean time), the Dodgers beat Tampa Bay 3-1 in Game 6 of the 2020 Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series held at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, USA.


The Dodgers finished the series with a record of 4 wins and 2 losses. This marks the franchise's 7th World Series championship, following their victories in 1955, 1959, 1963, 1965, 1981, and 1988.


Tampa Bay, founded in 1998, challenged for their first World Series title but ended as runners-up again, following their 2008 finish.


Choi Ji-man (29) of Tampa Bay, the first Korean batter to appear on the World Series stage, started as the leadoff hitter and first baseman, recording 0 hits in 2 at-bats, 1 walk, and 1 strikeout.


Choi Ji-man finished his first World Series with 1 hit, 3 walks, and 3 runs scored over 7 games.


Weighing approximately 118 kg, Choi Ji-man became the heaviest leadoff hitter in Major League postseason history.
