[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] "Today's protagonists are not only the 26 mentors but also the mentees who grow together by receiving the mentors' experiences and wisdom, becoming future leaders. Mentors and mentees can engage in mutual learning and mutual growth. There is a new anticipation of encountering a synergy of a different dimension."
On the 28th, Minister of Gender Equality and Family Lee Jung-ok attended the 9th Asia Women Leaders Forum and said, "The government and the National Assembly will work even harder with policies and legislation that help entrepreneurs and many women active in the field."
Minister Lee stated, "It seems that Korean companies do not actively embrace diversity," adding, "The proportion of female executives in companies with sales exceeding 2 trillion won is only 4.5%." She continued, "While companies might have grown under the traditional manufacturing model, in new growth engines such as bio and ICT sectors, women or gender diversity are key," emphasizing, "Now is the time to bring about qualitative change."
Finally, Minister Lee said, "Just as our society has rapidly undergone compressed industrialization growth over the past few decades, I hope the value of gender equality will be embraced at a fast pace."
