Samsung Considers Not Providing Earphones and Chargers with Galaxy S21

On the 27th (local time), according to IT specialized media SamMobile and others, Samsung Electronics is reportedly reviewing a plan to exclude chargers and wired earphones, which have been provided free of charge in smartphone product packages, starting with the Galaxy S21. Even if chargers continue to be provided, there is a possibility that wired earphones will be excluded first.
Apple excluded wired earphones and charging adapters with the launch of the iPhone 12 under the pretext of environmental protection, which ultimately allowed them to increase their profit margins. Removing charging adapters and earphones reduces the package volume, saving shipping costs, and can also increase sales of accessories such as wireless earphones, helping to reduce costs and expand sales.

Earlier, Samsung Electronics mocked the removal of chargers from the iPhone 12 through its Samsung Mobile Facebook account. Samsung Mobile uploaded a photo of a Samsung charger adapter with the caption "Galaxy gives you what you are looking for." Emphasizing that Galaxy smartphone packages include adapters, they highlighted that "chargers are provided free of charge, and it supports the best camera, battery, and even a 120Hz refresh rate."
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics excluded AKG wired earphones from the Galaxy Note20 package in the United States. Consumers who purchased the product in the U.S. were offered the earphones separately upon request by calling customer service. However, it remains uncertain how much Samsung can lower the Galaxy S21’s retail price by removing accessories.
