[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The People Power Party disclosed on the 28th ten public inquiry items sent in the name of Floor Leader Joo Ho-young ahead of President Moon Jae-in's policy speech to the National Assembly on the 26th. President Moon did not respond to the ten questions sent by Floor Leader Joo during the policy speech that day.
Through the public inquiry, Floor Leader Joo questioned ▲ the early shutdown of Wolseong Unit 1 ▲ reconsideration of the nuclear phase-out policy ▲ resolution of the conflict between Minister Chu Mi-ae and Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl ▲ launch of the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit (PCC) ▲ introduction of special prosecutors for Lime and Optimus cases ▲ measures to ease the jeonse housing crisis ▲ prevention of North Korea's nuclear proliferation ▲ stance on Kim Jong-un ▲ 'double standards' of regime officials ▲ and parachute appointments.
Earlier, Floor Leader Joo had sent a public inquiry letter with ten questions regarding the overall state affairs in July, but President Moon did not respond. Likewise, President Moon did not provide an official answer to this newly sent public inquiry.
Regarding the early shutdown of Wolseong Unit 1, Floor Leader Joo stated through the public inquiry, "Ahead of the Board of Audit and Inspection's audit, national officials destroyed 444 document files late at night," demanding "a sincere explanation and apology from the President."
On the nuclear phase-out policy, he criticized, "The first button was buttoned wrong," and questioned, "Why should we abandon the world-class Korean-style nuclear power plants built with blood and sweat over the past 60 years? Reconsider the nuclear phase-out policy."
Concerning the conflict between Minister Chu and Prosecutor General Yoon, Floor Leader Joo asked rhetorically, "Why does the President neglect this endless fight between them?" and pointed out, "Where is the President's promise to completely separate power institutions from politics?"
Regarding the PCC, he questioned, "Why are the Blue House and the ruling party rushing the launch of the PCC while putting all their efforts into neutralizing the prosecution?" and added, "The people of this regime, who turned the living Prosecutor General into a vegetable, say they will let the PCC operate as an independent investigative agency? The public is laughing."
Floor Leader Joo urged, "Please encourage the ruling party to introduce special prosecutors for the Lime and Optimus cases," and criticized, "The Democratic Party's floor leadership hinted last week that they could accept special prosecutors but completely withdrew the stance by the weekend. They are counterattacking by labeling the opposition's special prosecutor demands as 'political strife.'” He also pointed out the case of Deputy Prime Minister Hong Nam-ki becoming a 'jeonse refugee' and demanded real estate policy measures.
Regarding North Korea, he pressed, "Where is the 'red line' to prevent North Korea's nuclear proliferation?" and asked, "Why does the President not clearly state his position on matters related to North Korea and Kim Jong-un (Chairman of the State Affairs Commission)?" He also criticized the Ministry of National Defense and the Coast Guard for concluding that a Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries official had 'defected to the North.'
He continued, "Everyone in this regime is uniformly 'naerounambul' (a double standard meaning 'romance if I do it, adultery if others do it')," expressing concern about division, and added, "the whole country is covered with parachute appointments," criticizing the Moon administration's personnel issues.
