Beopseoryeon Submits Request via Ministry of Justice Website on the 28th
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] The "Action Alliance for Establishing the Rule of Law (Beopse-ryeon)" announced on the 28th that it has submitted a request for an inspection to the Ministry of Justice website regarding the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office's decision of no charges in the special leave controversy involving Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae's son.
Beopse-ryeon stated, "Although the Supreme Prosecutors' Office ordered supplementary investigations, there are suspicions that the supplementary investigations were deliberately refused to conclude with no charges, and despite Minister Choo's son, Seo Mo, being aware of his failure to return from leave, the conclusion that there was no intent of military absence raises suspicions of a lenient investigation. We request an inspection regarding these matters."
They continued, "There are suspicions that the decision of no charges was influenced by external pressure from Minister Choo or was made to curry favor with the personnel authority. The Ministry of Justice must conduct an unreserved inspection of the Eastern District Prosecutors' Office's investigation process and impose disciplinary actions and criminal charges against the investigation team," they asserted.
