Busan City to Establish Shared University Platform with Six Universities in the Busan Area

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Busan City and six universities in the Busan area (Dongmyung University, Dongseo University, Dong-A University, Dong-Eui University, Pukyong National University, Korea Maritime and Ocean University) held the 'Busan City-Busan Area Shared University Platform Establishment Agreement Ceremony' on the morning of the 28th to mark a new start for Busan-style future education.

Through the agreement, Busan City and the six universities plan to develop and operate joint curricula, jointly plan and develop cooperative programs and content, and establish a shared university platform. They will actively cooperate in the operation when promoting projects related to the shared university.

The Busan Area Shared University Platform will be promoted with Busan City providing administrative and financial support for the success of the shared university, and the six universities operating a single joint class format.

The city and the universities agreed to operate joint curricula related to entrepreneurship education and to establish an innovative shared university system for training specialized personnel in new technology fields (such as AI convergence departments), aiming to expand it to all universities in the Busan area.

The 'Busan-style Shared University (University System of Busan, USB)' can collaborate and connect with the Ministry of Education's regional innovation platform project and the innovative shared university project for digital new technology talent cultivation, expecting a synergistic effect.

Byun Sung-wan, Acting Mayor of Busan, said, "The development of local universities is the driving force for the city's growth," and added, "Through the shared university platform, we plan to provide higher quality education with better curricula."
