[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] A new building for the 119 Special Rescue Unit will be constructed in Sejong. The building is scheduled to begin construction this year and be completed in 2022, and it will include office spaces and training areas for the 119 Special Rescue Team.
On the 28th, the Administrative City Construction Agency announced that it has started the construction of the 119 Special Rescue Unit building in Sejong to respond to special disasters such as terrorism.
Previously, the Agency selected a design proposal through a design competition in July last year, completed the basic and detailed designs by June, and began construction this month.
During this process, the Agency continuously consulted with the Sejong Fire Headquarters from the planning stage, reflecting the building’s usage characteristics in the architectural design to ensure rapid deployment and effective training through spatial arrangement and building layout plans.
Additionally, in compliance with the mandatory zero-energy building policy for public institutions, the Agency explained that the building will incorporate renewable energy systems such as solar power generation and fuel cell facilities, producing 49.5% of the total energy consumed within the building.
Choi Jae-seok, Director of Public Building Planning at the Agency, stated, “The building will undergo common temporary construction and earthworks within this year and is expected to be completed in the first half of 2022.” He added, “With the completion of the building, we expect the security level in the Sejong area to improve.”
