Goheung-gun 'Prevention of Poor Construction and Safety Accidents' On-site Inspection of Actual Conditions

[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do, produced the ‘Construction Work Defective Construction Prevention Manual’ last May to ensure solid construction of government-commissioned projects and is operating mobile inspections and a defect reporting center for use by the ordering department staff.

According to Goheung-gun on the 27th, from the 19th to the 23rd, on-site inspections were conducted to prevent defective construction and safety accidents for 13 major projects commissioned by the county.

As part of on-site verification, projects with a budget of 500 million KRW or more and progress of 30% or more were targeted, and specialists in administration, facilities, and architecture participated to inspect the status in six areas.

The inspection team examined overall aspects including proper construction according to design documents and related standards, defective construction such as appearance and functional conditions, other safety accident prevention, and site management status.

As a result of the inspection, 13 cases of insufficient construction and quality, 14 safety cases, and 3 environmental cases were corrected or improved on-site with cautionary measures, and 10 cases requiring review by the ordering department were recommended for reflection.

A county official said, “We have been conducting construction site inspections to prevent defective construction in advance through thorough quality control and solid construction based on design documents, and to improve issues such as safety management status. We will do our best to raise awareness and responsibility of site managers to prevent defective construction and safety accidents in the future.”

Meanwhile, since the COVID-19 level was eased to level 1 on the 12th, the county governor has been focusing on strengthening field-centered administration and, during visits to community meeting places and farming sites, also checks major projects underway in nearby areas.
