[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] The Democratic Party's Future Housing Promotion Team will be launched on the 5th of next month. Jin Sun-mi, head of the Democratic Party's Future Housing Promotion Team, stated that the team will design long-term real estate policies through its activities.

Jin said, "We plan to hold the launching ceremony at 10 a.m. on the 5th with the party leader and several members," adding, "We are thinking of an activity period of about 100 days," and "There will be about 12 lawmakers and around 25 external members."

Earlier, on the 19th, Democratic Party leader Lee Nak-yeon announced the launch of the promotion team during the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly, saying, "We need to start a new approach reflecting on past real estate policies," and "The Future Housing Promotion Team will increase the responsibility of the state and local governments regarding housing and expand housing publicness to provide a groundbreaking solution to ease public anxiety."

Jin explained, "Currently, real estate policies focus on prices and systems," and "In 10 years, we might see flying cars. We are launching this team to consider overall real estate policies for the next 10 years."

Regarding the composition of the members, Jin said, "We are still recruiting, but by Thursday (29th), we expect to have a rough picture," adding, "We plan to invite representatives from standing committees related to housing policy such as the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, the Strategy and Finance Committee, the Public Administration and Security Committee, the Welfare Committee, the Education Committee, and the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee. For external members, we are looking for people who can represent voices from the field, those who think about architecture, and those conducting various experiments to find new needs."

She continued, "For the first month or two, we will be busily visiting sites," and "We will spend about a month identifying needs at places conducting experiments, supplying new housing types, and organizations like LH responsible for these. We aim to review housing policies from a new perspective that prepares for the future, breaking away from existing views, and design future plans."
