Selection of Awardees in the Film Artist and Lifetime Achievement Artist Categories
Actors Lee Byung-hun and Yoon Jeong-hee will receive the Beautiful Artist Award. On the 27th, the Shin Young-kyun Arts and Culture Foundation announced that the two actors were selected as recipients in the Film Artist and Lifetime Achievement Artist categories, respectively. The Beautiful Artist Award is given to artists who have shown outstanding activity in the fields of film and theater. It was established when the Shin Young-kyun Arts and Culture Foundation was founded in 2011.
Lee Byung-hun entered the film industry in 1995 with "Runaway" and has starred in about forty films, including "Joint Security Area (JSA)," "Masquerade," and "The Fortress." This year, he portrayed Kim Gyu-pyeong, the head of the Central Intelligence Agency, coldly and poignantly in "The Man Standing Next," creating remarkable tension. Thanks to this, on the 22nd, the film was selected as South Korea's submission for the International Feature Film category at the 93rd Academy Awards.
Actor Yoon Jeong-hee
Yoon Jeong-hee is a first-generation member of the Troika who led the renaissance of Korean cinema in the 1960s. Starting with "Youth Theater" in 1967, she appeared in films such as "Mist," "The Palace Guard," and "Woman in Crisis." In 2010, she delivered an impressive performance in the lead role in "Poetry," for which she won the Best Actress award at the Grand Bell Awards. Previous recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award include actors Choi Eun-hee, Yoon Il-bong, Namkoong Won, Um Aing-ran, and Kim Ji-mi.
The Good People Arts Award, given to artists who have exerted positive influence, will be awarded to four individuals: broadcaster Kim Dong-geon and actors Jung Hye-sun, Yoo Ji-in, and Geum Bo-ra. Due to the significant reduction in theater performances caused by the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), no recipients were selected for the Theater Artist Award and the New Artist Award.
